General and Physical Details
Name: Mariana Josefina Delgado
Age: Twenty-two years
Gender: Female
Height/Weight: 5’4”, 125 LBS
Nationality/Ethnicity: Hispanic American
Eye color: Dark brown
Hair color: Dark brown/black
Glasses or contact lenses?: Contact lenses
Skin Color: Olive
Shape of Face: Square
Overall Appearance (Be as specific as possible): Mariana has a very athletic build.  She is strong enough to hold her own, in most cases, and her physical appearance (combined with her attitude) does nothing to hide that fact.  She is exceptionally well toned, but her muscles aren’t really hulking, as they flow smoothly with the curves of her body (for the most part).  Her dark, almost black hair is layered and naturally loosely curled, coming down an inch or two past her shoulders.  It most often appears messy and a bit dirty due to her constant activity, even when she does have it pulled back into a loose ponytail or bun.  Her bangs flip out to the right, as she attempts to part her hair on the left, reaching a bit longer than the corner of her eye.  Her ears are pierced, but due to the zombie apocalypse, she only wears small fake diamond studs to keep from catching them on anything.
How does he/she usually dress?: Marina typically wears a solid black tank top, a pair of gray camouflaged cargo jeans, a pair of black combat boots, and her dog tags.  She also has two black hair ties that she wears with one around both wrists when not using them in her hair.  She usually ties her sparkly gray Victoria’s Secret hoodie around her waist when she’s not wearing it.
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Former Occupation: Enlisted Marine Corps Engineer Equipment Mechanic (rank: Lance Corporal)
Distinguishing Physical Features: Mariana has three tattoos.  On her right arm, she has a grinning bleeding skull wearing a hat with the USMC emblem on it.  On her left arm, there is a roaring lioness standing over a cowering male lion.  Running from the top of her left leg to about the height of her belly button is a King Cobra slightly coiled up that is smoking a cigarette.
Hobbies: There are few things Mariana enjoys more than just hanging out and having a good time with her friends, who seem to almost always be males.  She truly loved her job before the apocalypse, so oftentimes she will create useless knickknacks or repair things that she will rarely, if ever, use.  Occasionally she will dip or play cards.

Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes
Best Quality: Mariana’s insatiable desire to prove herself has led her to accomplish many great things.  In terms of physical strength, she is very impressive, especially for someone her height.  She is loyal almost to a fault when she truly believes in something and will do everything in her power to make sure that whatever it is succeeds and continues, even if it costs her own life.  She lives by the Marine Corps values, “Honor, Courage, and Commitment.”  She is skilled with melee weapons and guns.
Greatest Flaw: Her temper is a big flaw, but it certainly isn’t her greatest flaw, as she can control it (at times).  The emotional toll that her infertility has taken on her is, perhaps, her greatest flaw.  She approaches sex rather casually, possibly in an attempt to ‘make up for it.’  Mariana pushes people away when they truly try to get to know her.  Knowing her fun-loving, daring personality is one thing, but truly knowing the woman behind all of that is entirely another.  Her unhealthy habits of dipping, drinking, and smoking certainly aren’t great for her health, but she doesn’t expect to live very long, anyways, given the zombie apocalypse.
Educational Background: Mariana didn’t try as hard as she probably should have, as she was more concerned with her social life than her grades.  Nevertheless, she maintained about a B average with a few C’s and an A or two mixed in there.  She scored a 95 on her ASVAB, again, due to not studying.  She completed the eight week Construction Equipment Repairer course at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.
How self-confident is the character: Mariana is very self-confident, almost to the point of being arrogant, but not quite.  She knows her limits and may test them at times, but she rarely ever (willingly) puts herself in a situation that she can’t handle.
Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof?: It is a mixture.  She tries to follow logic but often finds herself making rash decisions based on her emotions.
What would most embarrass this character?: She never wants anyone to find out that she is infertile, as the fact makes her feel like she is nothing.  Her other biggest embarrassments would be showing her ‘wimpy’ fears (specifically her fear of heights) and not being physically strong enough to do something (and consequently having to ask someone else to do it for her).

Emotional/Spiritual Characteristics:
Strengths/Weaknesses: Mariana is physically imposing, and she can wield many melee weapons effectively and fire a multitude of weapons with fairly good accuracy (thanks to her military training).  She knows how to have a good time and can sometimes share a bit of that knowledge with others.  Generally speaking, she likes to help people, though not so much unless they are in her group or are otherwise important to her.  She is a fairly good mechanic, especially on large equipment such as bulldozers.  On the downside, Mariana is only 5’4”, so she can’t always reach things.  She gets angry fairly easily, and she does not like to share most of her true emotions.  She doesn’t always think things through, so sometimes she may make rash decisions.  She may do dangerous things on a dare, so at times her never-back-down attitude could be considered a weakness.  Her extreme insecurity (that she usually succeeds in hiding) about her infertility is, needless to say, certainly not a strength.
Introvert or Extrovert?: Extrovert
Optimist or Pessimist?: A mixture of both, probably leaning a bit more towards pessimist
How does the character deal with anger?: All problems that she cannot resolve with her words, she resolves with her fists.  This may be viewed as a bad way to deal with anger, but it was how she was raised and certainly wasn’t frowned upon in the Marine Corps.  She does not take shit off of anyone.  On the rare occasions that the problem also cannot be resolved with her fists, she will storm away to go build or repair something, usually ending in her breaking whatever that something was.  It is unlikely that she will purposely put herself in danger (like going out to kill zombies), but when Mariana is livid enough, anything is possible.
With sadness?: She hides her sadness.  She does not cry in front of others under any circumstances, and rarely does she even cry alone.  When she’s upset for some reason besides anger, Mariana will distract herself by doing what she loves- dipping and building/repairing things.
With conflict?: As previously mentioned, Mariana prefers to solve problems as quickly as possible.  Her favored method is fist fighting, but generally she’ll at least make an effort to verbally beat someone’s face in before physically doing it.  She thinks she deals with conflict perfectly, but others may not see eye to eye with her (and not just because she’s short).
With change?: Mariana does not truly despise change, but she does prefer to be familiar with her surroundings and the people and things in them.  She always appreciates a little change, however, since falling into the same routine can bore her.
With loss?: Fairly well.  Sadly, Mariana is familiar with losing those close to her, as several of her friends in the Marine Corps were shipped out and never came back.  Regardless, it still has an effect on her, although it’s probably not as great of an effect as it should be.  When she loses someone she cares about, she will enjoy the company of those she still has with her and drink (a controlled amount) to the memory of those who have been lost.
What motivates this character?: Aside from her natural will to survive, she just wants to live to see another sunrise.
What makes this character happy?: She thoroughly enjoys repairing things and spending time with (most) other survivors.
Is the character judgmental of others?: Quite
Is the character generous or stingy?: She is somewhat stingy, even a bit so when it comes to those close to her.  But she does have a generous side and will probably share supplies with someone if it is a life-threatening emergency.
Is the character generally polite or rude?: Mariana just does her own thing, so at times she may come across as a bit rude.  She tries to be polite but will often slip up and let out several vulgarities or do something a bit inappropriate unintentionally.  If she has a reason to dislike someone, she will not hesitate to be rude to them.

Write a few sentences describing your character’s first zombie experience: “Come in!”  Immediately upon entering the small Missouri home belonging to her sister, Mariana had tossed her bag of clothes in the floor and headed into the kitchen.  She hadn’t eaten in a few hours, and that infernal rumbling of her stomach had nearly made her go insane while she’d been driving.  “God, I don’t see how ya do it, Is,” Mariana called out as she stared into the open refrigerator.  Her sister, a rather similar looking, slightly shorter and much less muscular woman, peeked her head around the corner of the doorway, laughing, “Just because I look Spanish don’t mean I gotta eat the food or speak the language.”  Mariana shook her head, smiling, “Oh, I’m not talking about that.  Hell, I don’t do that either.  I’m talking about the lack of beer.  You’ve got three beers in your entire fridge!  I bet a baby could drink more ‘n that!”  She grabbed the three glass bottles by the neck, raising them up in one hand as if to prove a point.  “Well I told ya, I don’t drink ‘em.  I got all those for you,” her sister Isabella replied.  In response, she simply got an, “Oh,” and the closing of the now beer-less refrigerator.  Mariana looked quite pleased with herself, carrying the three bottles of liquid prize through the doorway and into the living room.  She then proceeded to lay long-ways across the couch, not quite tall enough for her feet to hang over the side.  The Hispanic woman with the obvious Texas accent popped open the first beer, slowly sipping it and watching a documentary about wild animals in Africa.  She would eat something later, as soon as her sudden thirst for beer was satisfied.  “So is this what you do all day, Is?  Watch zebras get mauled by lions?”  She paused for a few seconds, then continued, “I’ve got a lion tattoo, ya know.  I don’t think you’ve seen it yet.”  There was no response.  Again, she waited a few more seconds before calling out to her sister, “Is?”  Sighing with annoyance, she grumbled mostly to herself, “Did you seriously go outside while I was talkin’ to ya?  I swear…”  She sat up, taking another swig of the beer and carefully stepping past the two unopened ones she had sat down on the rug.  “Is?” she repeated, a bit louder now.  Mariana began walking back into the kitchen, a frown forming on her square-shaped face.  “Is, I swear to God-,” but she was cut off by a scream outside.  Mariana sped up, quickly setting the half empty beer down on the countertop before pushing the screen door open and rushing out into the front yard.  Her dark brown stare instantly fell on the situation- a total stranger was on top of Isabella, who was doing everything in her power to resist him, screaming and thrashing.  Mariana reacted on instinct.  “Get the hell off of her!” Mariana screamed, rushing towards the two.  The man didn’t even acknowledge her existence, as he was too busy ripping and tearing at Isabella’s clothes, almost as if he was trying to bite her.  “I said get the fuck off of her!”  She shoved him hard in the shoulder, knocking him a bit sideways.  But the man immediately recovered and lunged for Isabella again, who was scrambling backwards.  Furious, Mariana grabbed him by the hair in one hand and back of the shirt in the other.  She tore him off of her and then proceeded to toss him backwards, staggering him.  He whirled around, now lunging for her with his arms outstretched, half yelling half growling.  She took his legs out from beneath him with a spinning kick, sending him sprawling facedown into the dirt.  Unhesitatingly, Mariana got on top of him, pummeling his head into the dirt with her fists.  She didn’t let up until she was sure he was unconscious.  Any normal human, weak or strong, would have been unconscious by then.  She got off up him, wiping some spit off of her jaw.  “What happened, Is?” she asked, not taking her eyes off of the currently motionless man.  “He bit me!”  “He what?”  She turned to see what in the world her sister was talking about, and that was when she realized she wasn’t dealing with any ordinary person.  The man wasted no time in leaping to his feet, howling like a mad animal.  She spun around to face him, yelling, “Go the fuck back home before you get yourself killed!  It’s not funny!”  Her words seemed to have no effect on him.  He came sprinting at her, ignoring her warning.  Mariana waited until he was within range to rear back and hit him as forcefully as she could manage in the nose with the palm of her hand.  The move obviously broke his nose, sending it back up into his skull.  A death move, as it pierced his brain.  She was incredibly lucky that he had not managed to bite her palm or scratch her arm in the meantime, and she wouldn’t even realize just how lucky she was until a few hours later...  The man’s head jolted backwards and he collapsed on the ground, dead.  Mariana only offered him a couple more seconds glance before she turned her attention back to Isabella, who was staring in horror.  “Where’d he get ya?”

Write a paragraph telling how your character found the plantation: THUD!!  The zombie’s body bounced off the front of the 2010 yellow Hummer h2, rolling down the right side and being partially run over by the tires.  The Hummer skidded to a stop as the driver turned her attention to the rear view mirror, staring intently at the body to see if it would try to get back up.  The second the half-squished zombie had started to twitch, she threw the Hummer into reverse and backed over it, cursing the foul creature and earth’s plentitude of them.  She then switched the gear back into drive and proceeded to run over the flattened remains a third time.  Finally satisfied, the blood-stained, slightly dented Hummer h2 took off again, at a decent speed, of course.  The driver wasn’t planning on having any unsolicited wrecks anytime soon.  She had a little more than a half a take of gas left, so the going wasn’t really a problem, just the destination.  Mariana hadn’t seen very many living human beings in quite some time, just undead ones.  She didn’t even have any rumors to test, as she hadn’t seen any humans to even tell her any (probably false) stories in the first place.  She sang along to the Avenged Sevenfold CD (currently the song Nightmare was playing), though screamed or screeched may have been a better word to describe the sounds that were escaping her lips.  Such was a typical car ride through the apocalyptic remains of society, feeling completely alone- unless of course one was to somehow feel comfort in being surrounded by the hungry undead.  Mariana certainly wasn’t that one, and she honestly doubted that anyone could ever think that way, especially after all of the time that has passed since the start of the apocalypse.  Another minute or two passed before suddenly something in the distance caught her eye.  Laying near a dirt road that branched off of the one she was driving on, there was a headless zombie.  She had yet to see zombies beating each other’s heads in with crowbars, so that could only mean one thing- people.  Now whether those people were still alive or not or even still in the area, she did not know.  But she damn well was about to find out!  Mariana slowed the Hummer h2 way down, turning the vehicle around slowly.  She then proceeded to drive down the dirt road at about five or so miles per hour.  Up ahead she could see some sort of fence surrounding what appeared to be a plantation of some sort.  Where there were fences there was bound to be people- or a giant hole in the fence and a bunch of zombies.  But as far as her dark brown eyes could see, there were no gaping holes in the plantation’s defenses.  Curiously and a bit excited at the possibility of finding another survivor or hopefully multiple other survivors, Mariana parked the yellow Hummer h2, grabbed her weapons, and went to explore the place more closely.
My totally badass Hispanic chick for :iconreignofthedead:.
